Receiving the tourist visa

In general, you receive the visa in your e-mail inbox a maximum of 5 working days after submitting the application. If your flight to Australia is leaving before that, it is recommended submitting an urgent application. This is done by checking the option ‘urgent delivery’ in the application form. You will then have a 95% chance of receiving the visa within one hour. While there is a large chance an urgent application will be approved in time, it is recommended submitting your visa application well in advance of your trip, so you head to the airport without any worries.

Submit your Australia tourist visa application in time. Even urgent applications can (in exceptional cases) take longer to be issued.

Doing volunteer work during your holiday in Australia

You can choose to do volunteer work during your holiday in Australia. This is also possible with an eVisitor. However, the main purpose of your trip has to be tourism.

Requirements and validity

Before submitting your visa application, check if you meet the requirements. For example, if you plan to stay un Australia for longer than 3 consecutive months, you do not qualify for an eVisitor. However, this visa does allow you to travel to Australia multiple times, as long as each separate stay does not last longer than 3 months.

British and Irish travellers are advised applying for a Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) or a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) for their trip. With this card, any healthcare costs in Australia do not have to be advanced, but can be claimed directly by the hospital.
